The William Charles Risk Management Department received very prestigious recognition last month as the number one finalist for the Gary Bird Horizon Award from IRMI (International Risk Management Institute). Rosendin Electric of San Jose, California was the 2009 winner. The finalist recognition went to the William Charles Construction group of our Risk Management department.
The Gary Bird Horizon Award is presented annually to recognize demonstrated commitment to improving construction risk management through the implementation of innovative, cost-effective and efficient risk management techniques. The award is named in honor of Gary Bird, a nationally known risk management expert lost in the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001.
While William Charles did not win the top award, we did present a strong application, leading to the employees being named the top finalist. “The risk program you have developed represents the type of construction best practices we hope to continue to highlight. Your willingness to share your innovative process with the rest of the construction industry is to be applauded,” stated Christine Fuge, Senior Research Analyst, IRMI.
“It is a real honor to have our safety program and our methodology recognized by IRMI. Congratulations not only to the Risk Management team but to all of William Charles Construction,” concluded Tim Jagielski.
The award recognition went to: Jim Van Briesen, Tim Jagielski, Loren Whitney, Julie Vernetti, Casey Long and Lynn Ulrich.
